OUR STORY
House of Urmi began as an extension of my practice as an artist.
I’m Anjali Asok, and every print at House of Urmi is first painted by me, before it is translated onto fabric. The process is deliberate and slow, allowing each piece to retain the integrity of the original artwork. Nothing here is borrowed or repeated; every design begins as art.
My work draws from Kerala’s cultural and social landscape, its people, its histories, and the quiet strength that has shaped the land over time. Each print carries a narrative of unity, labour, and belonging, reflecting stories that are often overlooked yet deeply foundational.
House of Urmi is built on the belief that clothing can exist beyond trends. We work with sustainably sourced, made-in-India fabrics, creating gender-neutral, size-inclusive garments designed with ease, fluidity, and permanence in mind. These are pieces intended to be lived in, not consumed.
The name Urmi references the urumi, one of history’s most powerful and unconventional weapons — fluid, precise, and fearless. Within the brand, Urmi becomes a metaphor: a quiet force that uses art and craft to bring enduring stories into the present.
To own a piece from House of Urmi is to engage with more than a garment.
It is to carry a narrative.
It is to hold a fragment of heritage.
